Mantis Elite-CAM adds image capture to the Mantis Microscope
Mantis – an award winning stereo microscope from Vision Engineering is now available with a built-in digital camera, allowing users to effortlessly capture images for reporting, cataloguing and communicating with colleagues and customers.
The Mantis is a stereo microscope with patented technology allowing operators to inspect components in comfort. With an ‘eyepieceless’ viewer, the Mantis Elite provides fatigue free viewing, optimizing accuracy and productivity.
Now with a high resolution camera built into the viewing head, the Mantis is even more versatile. Ryan Springell, Design Engineer for Vision Engineering explains why he thinks the Elite-Cam will prove to be a big success, with both existing and new customers:
“Over 150,000 Mantis stereo microscopes have been sold worldwide, mainly because of its ergonomic advantages and superior optics. However changing times means we need to provide our customers with optical solutions that meet with their complete requirements. With most of the Mantis systems sold into quality and production, it is essential they are able to quickly and easily communicate their findings to their colleagues. The Mantis Elite-Cam delivers all of the original advantages for inspection with the benefits of simultaneous optical and digital viewing with digital image capture capabilities”.
Factory sealed, the Mantis Elite-Cam requires little configuration enabling user to virtually plug and play. Image capture options include BMP, JPEG and PNG. Connectivity is through USB 2.0 with easy-to-use PC based software.
Engineers and scientists worldwide use our systems for a wide range of general magnification, inspection and measurement application in both industrial and life science markets. More than 300,000 units have been installed worldwide to date.
Vision Engineering holds world patents for optical techniques which remove the need for conventional binocular microscope eyepieces. Vision Engineering continues to lead the way in optical innovation and technology with new products and technology continually under development.
Mantis microscope price increase
Well, it had to happen eventually. Despite the meltdown in 2008, and the ensuing worldwide decrease in economic activity, VE managed to hold prices constant. This week they finally announced their first price increase in years.
Thankfully, they did this in the most logical way possible, taking a look at each item individually, and only bumping prices where really needed. Most manufacturers take a much more cavalier about this sort of thing – just kicking everything up by a certain percentage.
As a result, not everything Mantis related went up – and those items that did, increased by a small percentage.
If you have a quote from July or earlier – now is the time to move on it. We can still get you a Mantis at the old price for another week or so, based on previous quotes.
Shoot me an email and we’ll take care of it for you.
